Liability waiver

Football is a contact sport with real risk of injury. By joining FC828 you accept those risks, play at your own risk, and agree not to sue the club or its organizers for ordinary injuries — including those caused by ordinary carelessness (negligence). You confirm you are 19 or older and healthy enough to play. This does not cover the club deliberately or recklessly harming you.

1. Who this protects. “The Organization” means FC828, its organizers, administrators, volunteers, and members acting on the club's behalf, and the owners/operators of any field where activities take place.

2. Risks. Pickup football is a strenuous contact sport with real risks: strenuous exertion; slips, trips and falls; sprains, cuts, dislocations and broken bones; collisions with players, ball, goalposts or equipment; concussion and head/neck/spinal injuries; uneven or wet surfaces; weather; equipment failure; and, rarely, catastrophic injury, permanent disability or death.

3. Assumption of risk. I freely accept and fully assume all such risks, whether or not caused by the negligence of the Organization.

4. Release and waiver. To the fullest extent permitted by law, I release and agree not to sue the Organization for any claims arising from my participation, INCLUDING CLAIMS ARISING FROM THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE ORGANIZATION AND ANY BREACH OF THE DUTY OF CARE UNDER THE OCCUPIERS LIABILITY ACT (BRITISH COLUMBIA). This does not, and cannot, release the Organization for gross negligence or for intentional or reckless conduct.

5. Indemnity. I agree to indemnify the Organization for any claim brought by me or on my behalf as a result of my participation, to the extent permitted by law.

6. Age and fitness. I confirm I am 19 or older and in good enough health to participate, and I am responsible for my own medical/accident insurance.

7. Governing law. This agreement is governed by the laws of British Columbia and Canada; disputes are handled in BC courts. If any part is unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.

8. Acknowledgement. I have read and understood this agreement and accept it freely; it binds me and my heirs and representatives.
